Youth Arts Ministry

COMPONENTS
Dance Troupe – sacred, hip-hop, modern, etc….
Drama Troupe – dramatic acting
Mime Troupe – lyrical movement to music (with & without make-up)
Techno Troupe – sound, lighting, video
Timbrel Brigade – creative movement with the tambourine
Visual Arts Troupe – drawing, painting, sketching, etc…..
Worship Team – leading worship
Gospel Choir – vocal singing

MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of this ministry is to extend the unique Salvation Army fellowship experience with our youth, enhance their artistic and leadership training experience, and broaden their knowledge of evangelism and opportunities available in The Salvation Army.

The goal is to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ through “The Arts.” This added experience will prepare Salvationist youth to better support and strengthen their corps involvement. All members must understand that in order to have an effective ministry as a group, each person needs to give priority to their own faith walk as well as their talents.

COMMITMENT
All members must recognize the importance of their involvement in YAM by committing to attend every rehearsal and engagement. This means they must look ahead on their schedules and make necessary alterations so that all YAM commitments are on their calendar. (Only one absence will be permitted to continue membership for the season). Each member must be mature and have a serious attitude toward developing their spiritual commitment and talents.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
To be accepted into YAM, all applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 13 – 30 yrs by September preceeding the season of application

  • Be a member or prospective member of the Salvation Army (based on Corps Officer endorsement)

  • Be active in their corps

  • Complete an application

  • PASS AN AUDITION/INTERVIEW in their ministry component (In September each year)

  • Prepare a very short presentation

  • Share your religious beliefs

  • Answer questions regarding your artistic and religious experience and commitment

  • Receive an acceptance letter from the Divisional Music & Gospel Arts Director
